The Melbourne Main Street (MMS) Board of Directors is looking for a piece of art to be used in the
advertising for the 2008 "Main Street Masters of Art" Celebration!
The requirements are:
1. Must incorporate the Downtown Melbourne Gateway (located at the west end of East New Haven Avenue where Hwy 192 splits) in some way.
2. May be an abstract design
3. May depict items specific to our coastal region
4. This celebration is upscaled quite a bit from the past, with a wine tasting tent, jazz & piano type music. An upscale / indulgences theme would be good.
5. Must be 20" high x 16" wide, portrait orientation
6. Any 2-D Media or surface - but must be able to be scanned or photographed for reproduction
7. The back of the work must be labeled with the Artist's name and contact information
8. Entry into the contest constitutes permission for Melbourne Main Street to reproduce images of the winning artwork for advertisement and for sale of commemorative posters without royalties due to the artist.
9. Winning artist agrees to sign and number up to 150 limited edition commemorative posters prior to the celebration. This limited edition of 150 posters will be sold by Melbourne Main Street for MMS fundraising purposes.
What's in it for the winning artist?
1. Free booth for the current year celebration
2. You get to keep the original artwork to do with as you like after MMS has had it photographed
3. Vast amounts of publicity, which in the past has included the artwork featured in local newspapers, on merchant posters, commemorative posters, and most of the Masters advertising brochures and newspaper fliers.
4. Melbourne Main Street will provide the winning artist an "Artist Proof" edition of 10 copies of the commemorative poster.
Deadline: June 15th, 2008 (We need time to get the winning image in all our advertising!)
